A by-election to the 55th Parliament of the United Kingdom for the constituency area of Rochester and Strood.

UKIP gain from Conservative by Mark Reckless with a majority of 2,920 - 7.3% - on a turnout of 50.6%.

An electorate of 79,163, having a valid vote count of 40,065 and an invalid vote count of 48.
